What is the Role? 

Role: Digital Internship

Base Location: Leeds

Salary: £23,422 + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances, and wellbeing. 

Working Pattern: 1 year fixed term contract | Full Time | Flexible First options available 

Start Date: Summer 2025

Working as part of our multi-disciplined teams, we have a range of opportunities for students to support projects across our Thermal business.  We're looking for students who can bring fresh ideas, new skills and creative thinking, to deliver innovative solutions to help us reach net zero. This is an exciting time to join SSE Thermal and our vision couldn’t be simpler: to be the leading provider of flexible energy in a net zero world. 

Our digital internships provide real hands-on experience through a 12-month placement. Throughout the placement, you will have the support of a business mentor and buddy, who will provide guidance and support to enable you to reach your full potential. As an intern joining SSE within our Thermal business you will be using your digital skills to support the building of a better world of flexible thermal energy for future generations.

Our interns work collaboratively in a variety of contexts, while also taking ownership of their role by working under their own direction to drive action forward. There will also be networking and presentation opportunities, specialist sessions and support from our graduates.  

What do I need? 

We have opportunities for those studying degrees in a digital, operational technology or a cyber security related discipline. Our opportunities are open to students who are in their 2nd year of their degree onwards or those who have already graduated. 

We'd love you to have some practical work or project experience that reflects your passion for the energy sector, as well as demonstrable experience of working in a team. You'll also be comfortable working to and setting stretching individual targets and using your own initiative to overcome challenges and should have a genuine interest in SSE Thermal and the prospect of a long-term future with us.
