Types of Opportunities

Business and Commercial

Depending on the programme you choose, you could be involved in financial analysis, pricing and decision support, commercial and risk modelling. You’ll work on multiple live projects across the UK and be exposed to real business problems, that we’ll need your input to solve.

You’ll work on meaningful engineering projects from the get-go and play a big part in our quest to build a better world of energy for the future. We’ll need you to work quickly and reliably under pressure and take advantage of the many learning opportunities that’ll come your way. This may involve travel between our sites.

IT and Technology

SSE IT underpins the technology needs of all the different businesses that make up the SSE Group. Graduates on this scheme will rotate around many areas such as emerging technology, infrastructure support, system architecture and project management. You’ll learn just as much about how we use technology to support the business and our customers as you do the technical aspects.

Project Sales Engineering

This a two year programme which would suit graduates with a keen interest in the Building Energy Management and Sustainability industry who want to actively pursue a sales career.  The first 12 months will be spent working in an intensive training room environment so that you can develop the competencies required to build a career in sales engineering and solution selling.  The second 12 months will be spent working within one of our project estimating teams. Upon completion of the programme you’ll be offered a role that is most appropriate to your skills and attributes.

In this programme you’ll combine academic study with work based experience. We’ll give you the opportunity to study towards the globally recognised ICAS Accountancy qualification while working across the Finance areas of the SSE businesses. You’ll have completed the ICAS exam programme by your third year and have achieved your Chartered Accountancy qualification.  On completion of the programme you will be offered a permanent position with the SSE plc Finance team.
