ARBORIST ROLES

Interested in a career as an Arborist? We're recruiting now.

Our Arborist teams help to ensure that during bad weather, trees do not fall on power lines. Working with highly skilled teams, they clear trees and vegetation in proximity to our overhead transmission and distribution network, ultimately keeping the lights on for our customers.

We're growing our team and looking for people who love being outdoors and have experience climbing or working at height. If you have previous experience in tree cutting, forestry or arboriculture that's a bonus, although full training will be given.

"I joined SSE with the basic chainsaw certification and the company provided me with the training and certifications to become a fully qualified utility arborist, working as part of a squad for 4 years I then had the opportunity to progress to the role of chargehand and then onto my current role as field manager. I recommended my two brothers to the company one who has since moved onto the harvesting team and the other is now where I began my SSE career 10 years ago as a trainee.

The tree cutting team is a great team to be part of. Everybody takes pride in their work and wants to do a good job for SSE and our customers each day. There is a real team environment and with the nature of the job we do day to day it's important to have a strong team who look out for each other to ensure we all go home safe."

"My team is a mix of experienced people and those new to the industry. We all take pride in our job and have high safety standards which reflects in the quality of our work. If someone wants to have a career in tree work and work at becoming a highly skilled tree surgeon then SSE is the place to be."

The best part of the role is knowing that what we are doing is integral to helping keep the network safe which in turn is helping to keep the lights on for customers. SSE have an excellent record of safety. The work we carry out is dangerous so knowing when it comes to safety SSE will always have your back"
