We want SSE to be a healthy, happy place to work. That means making sure you have the encouragement, resources and support you need to take good care of yourselves – and each other.
We offer our people lots of benefits and services to support their health and wellbeing. Like webinars and wellbeing cafés. CPR training. Cancer awareness and support groups. Physical, mental, emotional and financial support from specialists.
To make sure you can find the support you need, we’ve created a community of Wellbeing Champions. Working across the business, from lots of different backgrounds and in all kinds of roles, they’ll help you find ways to balance all your roles and responsibilities and work towards a healthier, happier life.
Here are just some of the initiatives we’ve designed to help you work and live at your best.
When you join SSE, you have access to a range of free health services, including:
We know everyday challenges can have an impact on your mental wellbeing, so we help you look after your mental fitness, as well as your physical health. With 400 plus Mental Health First Aiders on our team, there’s always someone to listen and help you find support. We also work with specialist partners and app providers to give you access to counselling, mental fitness apps and more helpful tools. And we offer training and awareness programmes on topics such as stress, resilience and self care.
It’s not always easy to find time to get to a gym or class, which is why some of our offices have on-site gyms. For those that don’t, we offer Gympass. It gives you flexible access to thousands of gyms and classes across the country, and is often cheaper than regular gym memberships. We also run regular on-site fitness sessions, and our health and wellbeing community organise fitness events throughout the year. Look out for bike challenges, Stepathons, hillwalking and more!
85% of women experience stress or anxiety when managing their periods at work. One of the ways we aim to make things a little bit easier is by providing free period products to anyone who needs them. We also recognise that menopause can have a profound impact on physical and mental health, which is why we’ve created a Menopause Belonging Group and regular Menopause Cafés. Both offer easy ways to access advice and support, as well as to talk and be heard with others who understand what you’re going through.
