The role
We are excited to offer opportunities for skilled and passionate professionals at all levels to join our Procurement and Commercial team. You will play a key role in supporting the SSEN Transmission business, which has an ambitious capital development programme over the next decade, aimed at enhancing the country’s electricity transmission network and supporting the transition to Net Zero. The role will empower you to contribute meaningfully to our mission, all while promoting a collaborative, inclusive environment where everyone’s input is valued.
You will
Provide exceptional procurement and commercial services, ensuring that every aspect of delivery aligns with our internal controls and governance frameworks.
Support the development of project procurement strategies, managing the process from start to finish, negotiating contract terms, and ensuring compliance with all necessary regulations.
Take charge of cost estimation, ensuring that all evidence reflects efficiency and effectiveness while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders such as Ofgem.
Manage budgets and costs, adhering to change management procedures with care and precision.
Lead post-contract commercial management, ensuring that we achieve the best outcomes for the project while nurturing supplier relationships and adhering to the principles outlined in our Commercial Manual.
Support the regulatory process, helping us meet critical milestones and submissions such as RIIO T3 and LOTI re-openers, which fund major investments in the transmission network.
You have
A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field and Professional qualifications, such as MRICS, are highly desirable.
Extensive experience in managing contracts on construction projects or programmes of work between £5-30M
Familiar with the relevant contract conditions (such as NEC or FIDIC)and knowledgeable about the legal and statutory framework surrounding procurement and commercial policies.
Brings experience in cost management, including forecasting, reporting, and supply chain payment
