Base Location: You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of the following locations: Glasgow, Edinburgh or Perth

Salary: £42,600 – £64,000 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

The Content Design Lead will be responsible for SSE's content strategy and will create, evaluate and improve content at all stages of a user's journey across SSE's digital channels. They will work with subject-matter experts across SSE to ensure content helps users understand information and complete tasks easily, while meeting SSE’s brand, accessibility, legal and regulatory requirements. The role plays a key part in improving user experience, trust and digital performance across SSE’s web estate and digital channels.

You will

  • Design and deliver user-centred content: Design content based on user needs, evidence and research, ensuring the right information is in the right place, in the right format, at the right time.
  • Create accessible content: Ensure all content meets accessibility standards (minimum WCAG 2.1 AA) and follows inclusive design best practice.
  • Lead the design and implementation of content strategies: Champion content quality and standards, helping embed content design best practice across teams.
  • Engage and influence stakeholders: Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, whilst advocating for user needs and challenging assumptions using evidence to influence decisions.

You have

  • Proven experience designing user-centred content for digital services or products.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to simplify complex information.
  • Experience implementing new content strategies within a large organisation with multiple business objectives and user needs.
  • Strong understanding of accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA) and inclusive design principles.
  • Excellent collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
