The role

As a Project Manager within the SSEN Transmission (SSENT) Offshore team, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of large-scale offshore transmission projects across the north of Scotland. With a strong focus on commissioning activities, you’ll help enable the connection of renewable energy sources to the national Grid. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a growing portfolio of complex infrastructure projects at a critical stage of development and delivery.

Reporting to the Lead Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing projects through their lifecycle, with particular emphasis on preparing assets for commissioning and ensuring safe, compliant and efficient delivery.

You will

- Lead the planning and delivery of Offshore AC transmission projects, ensuring commissioning requirements are embedded from the earliest stages and that outcomes meet safety, quality, time and budget expectations.

- Develop and manage commissioning strategies, stage-by-stage sequences and commissioning plans, including coordination of Factory Acceptance Testing with suppliers, engineering teams and field engineers.

- Provide effective leadership and oversight of project teams, contractors and suppliers, supporting commissioning panels and promoting best practice across the wider project environment.

- Ensure full compliance with SSE Safety Culture, Safety Management Systems and Large Capital Projects Governance processes, as well as all legal, regulatory and internal requirements.

- Build solid, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Commissioning, System Performance, Outage Planning and Field Unit teams, while proactively identifying and supporting business and process improvement opportunities.

You have

- Proven experience leading commissioning activities within technically complex, large-scale capital projects, with the ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams; experience within electricity networks, offshore cable or major infrastructure projects is highly desirable.

- Leadership capability combined with a robust understanding of governance, reporting and financial control, ensuring effective project oversight and compliance throughout delivery.

- Demonstrable experience across the full project lifecycle, including engineering, construction, commissioning and tendering, with direct involvement in subsea cable installation and/or transmission infrastructure commissioning considered an advantage.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of engaging and influencing internal and external stakeholders at all organisational levels.

- Sound knowledge of relevant industry standards and frameworks, including the National Grid Code (STC), SSE standards and policies, NEC3 contracts, and construction health and safety legislation, including CDM 2015.
