This could mean a hybrid approach with a blend of working from home and in the office or it could mean flexibility across the working week, where operational requirements allow. One size will not fit all – each employee, manager and team will work together to find the most suitable approach.
SSE's engineering graduate programmes offer you a structured and challenging development programme where you'll have the support of the Learning and Development Graduate Programme Manager and a business mentor to help you reach your full potential. Our programmes are accredited by the IET, ICE and IMechE and offer a route to Professional Registration. All our engineering graduate programmes are two years long, offering a variety of placements that allow you develop your knowledge and skills.
On our commercial graduate programmes, you will play a critical role in the transition to a low carbon future. Whatever programme you choose, you will undertake a series of placements in various departments across the business such as:
The SSE IT graduate programme offers you a unique opportunity to shape your own learning. This is a two-year programme split into four six month placements across the SSE business units, with a variety of areas available for you to focus on during the programme including:
Our three-year finance graduate development programme gives you the opportunity to operate at the heart of our critical a finance functions whilst attaining a prestigious Chartered Accountant (CA) professional qualification. Across the programme, you will work across several businesses within SSE and by the end of your third year you’ll have the opportunity to become a Chartered Accounting Professional.
As a land & consents graduate at SSE, you will be working to secure, maintain and manage strategic land and property rights across a portfolio of projects within your chosen business unit. You’ll gain hands-on experience, travel to different SSE sites across the UK and develop your skills. There’s also the opportunity to work towards a recognised environmentalist accreditation with IEMA.
Once you complete the two-year programme, many graduates choose to continue their career at SSE as Land Managers, Consents Advisors, Forestry Managers amongst other roles.

If you’re successful in our online test stage, you’ll be invited to attend an online video interview. You can do this at a time that suits you best. A video interview is a great opportunity to really sell yourself, but you may feel a little out of your comfort zone. If so, here are some tips:
When you’ve made it through the first three stages, this is your chance to shine in person! The assessment is likely to include a group exercise, a presentation, and an interview. You’ll be given plenty of time to prepare, and to inform us of any special adjustments you require.
