SSE’s IT graduate development programme offers you the flexibility to learn and grow throughout your learning journey, with support every step of the way. Across the two years of the programme, you’ll gain real hands-on experience, build an invaluable network and develop a unique set of skills that will shape your career.
Once you complete the programme, many graduates choose to continue their career at SSE as Data Engineers, Scrum Masters, Demand Managers, Service Co-ordinators, Software Engineers and Business Analysts as well as other challenging and fulfilling roles.

Each graduate joins will embark on a two-year programme with SSE IT, comprising of an minimum of four placements. You'll be involved in planning your ongoing development of your programme, with our specialist guidance. You can pick from a wide variety of areas including Security, Data and Analytics, Agile and Dev Ops, Relationship Management, Service Delivery, Emerging Technology, Business Analysis, Software Engineering.
After two placements in first year, our IT Grads have developed lots of new skills and built strong networks. In the second year you’ll build on the skills gained in your first year or develop new ones. Expect to have plenty of support such as:
You’ll also get the opportunity to meet and present to colleagues across SSE from the CEO downwards. And at the end of your programme, there are a variety of different career pathways you can take depending on your interests and skillset. It’s a truly exciting opportunity.
The end of the IT Graduate programme is only the beginning. Depending on the business unit you work in, there are a variety of roles that you could end up in. Some of the roles that recent graduates have move into include Data Engineers, Subject Matter Experts, Scrum Masters, Demand Managers, Service Co-ordinators, Software Engineers and Business Analysts. Beyond leaving the programme, we’ll continue to look after you with regular reviews to ensure that there are no barriers to your success and that you continue to reach your potential.
