As a finance graduate at SSE, you will work across several business units, focusing on areas such as financial reporting, financial controls and systems, corporate governance and accounting processes. During the three-year programme, you’ll gain real hands-on experience, build an invaluable network and develop a unique set of skills that will shape your career.

Operate at the heart of our critical and ever evolving finance functions whilst attaining the prestigious Chartered Accountant (CA) professional qualification.
Placed either within Renewables or Transmission in your first year, you’ll get to make a real contribution from day one, as you develop your skills and knowledge by building on your understanding of financial reporting, financial controls and systems within your allocated business area. You’ll be supported by an amazing network of colleagues with the opportunity to build on your network by collaborating with people across the business. You will also kick start your ICAS block studies and exams on your pathway to chartership.
In your second year, you’ll split your time equally between our Internal Audit and Group Finance functions. Within these teams, you’ll develop your knowledge of corporate governance and accounting processes, risks and controls whilst building on your leadership skills with real-world, on-the-job experience as you broaden your knowledge across the various Corporate functions.
Your continued development and growth is our focus throughout the graduate programme. With our guidance and support we give you control to shape your career. In your third year you will have flexibility over the business areas that interest you, choosing between Corporate Finance, Treasury, Tax and several of our business units to name but a few!
By the end of your third year with SSE you will be expected to become a fully qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) with ICAS. With the networks that you’ve built from your work placements and equipped with your CA qualification, you will be able to take your career to the next level in a diverse and inclusive company that offers an abundance of opportunities for career development. Follow the pathway of previous ICAS SSE Graduates who have achieved strong positions within the SSE Group including ‘Commercial Finance Manager’, ‘Financial Controller and ‘Head of Corporate Finance’,
