As a finance graduate at SSE, you’ll work across several finance functions, including process automation, financial control, financial reporting, internal audit and internal controls. As finance continues to evolve through AI and automation, you’ll spend time in SSE’s newly established Finance Centre of Excellence, gaining exposure to innovative ways of working. Throughout the three-year programme, you’ll gain hands-on experience, build an invaluable network, and develop a unique set of skills to shape your career.

Operate at the heart of our critical and ever evolving finance functions whilst attaining the prestigious Chartered Accountant (CA) professional qualification.
In your first year, you’ll complete a placement in the Finance Centre of Excellence, where you’ll make a real contribution from day one. You’ll build your understanding of financial reporting, controls and systems, while gaining insight into how finance is evolving through AI and automation. You’ll be supported by a strong network of colleagues and have the opportunity to collaborate across the business, expanding your professional network. You’ll also kick-start your ICAS block studies and exams on your pathway to chartership.
In your second and third year, you’ll complete placements across SSE’s core business units, including Renewables, Transmission, Distribution and Thermal, with the opportunity to gain experience in Group functions such as Group Finance, Internal Controls and Internal Audit.
By the end of your third year with SSE you will be expected to become a fully qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) with ICAS. With the networks that you’ve built from your work placements and equipped with your CA qualification, you will be able to take your career to the next level in a diverse and inclusive company that offers an abundance of opportunities for career development.
