The role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Contract Manager to join our Procurement and Commercial (P&C) team supporting the ASTI Offshore Capital Delivery programme. This role will support the Civils programme of works.
Reporting to the Procurement & Commercial Manager, you will provide the necessary pre and post contract procurement and commercial support to some the largest projects within the SSEN Transmission This is an excellent opportunity to grow within the SSE portfolio and contribute to the continued growth of this area of the business.
This role would suit someone from a Quantity Surveying background with experience working either Client or Contractor side, no specific experience working in Energy sector is required but would be advantageous.
You will
Support the Procurement and Commercial Manager and their teams providing a world class procurement and commercial service ensuring all aspects of delivery are following internal controls as established through the Large Capital Projects Governance and Commercial Manuals.
Support and lead on procurement activities such as the development of Project procurement strategies, managing the procurement process, negotiation of contract terms and conditions and price through to contract award whilst ensuring compliance with the Utilities Contracts (Scotland) Regulations 2016.
Work on Cost estimating to the required standard and accuracy. Ensure all relevant evidence is included within the estimate to justify to internal and external stakeholders such as Ofgem.
Have to deal with Cost and budget management via regular cost reporting, forecasting and long term planning whilst also ensuring change management procedures are adhered to; Payment and expenditure management.
Provide robust post contract commercial management which will support the project goals and objectives including negotiating/agreeing compensation events and ensuring that the core principles of the Commercial Manual are being implemented.
Comply with all safety policies and procedures, promote safety and safe working practices both internally and externally to improve safety performance.
You have
Experience of drafting and interpreting commercial contracts together with knowledge of Standard Form construction contracts and bespoke contract arrangements. Experience of working with NEC is advantageous.
A Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification and have or be working towards professional membership of a relevant professional body such as RICS or CICES.
Strong commercial acumen with well-developed interpersonal, problem-solving, communication and negotiation skills with demonstrable experience delivering large projects/programmes of work.
Experience of estimating, sourcing management, cost & budget management, and contract administration.
Demonstratable experience and competency on all cost management issues including cost reporting, forecasting, accrual management and supply chain payment
