About the Role

Base Location: Aberdeen, Inverness, Perth or Glasgow  

Salary: circa £65,000 depending on skills and experience + car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances, and wellbeing. 

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available. 

The key responsibilities involved include:  

- As Senior Cable Project Engineer, you will provide specialist engineering support on high profile and technically complex projects. You will be responsible for reviewing or approving designs through the development and execution phases. 

- Supervise (but not line manage) and direct Engineers within the cable discipline and assist in the development of staff within the wider Transmission Engineering team. Using your technical expertise, you will drive decision making and support projects through peer review of key issues. 

- You will be expected to promote best practice within the Cable design through suggested improvements in specifications, technology options and management of engineering risks. 

- You will promote and manage safety within your assigned projects through the implementation of CDM procedures and practices, ensuring the engineering issues are compliant with relevant company, HSE and industry regulations. 

-  Working closely with Engineering Managers, Lead Project Managers and Project Managers you will ensure that Engineering and Quality risks are identified and understood, and projects are successfully delivered. 

What do I need? 

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have: 

- A qualification in an Electrical or other relevant engineering discipline and ideally be a Chartered Engineer in a relevant institution or working towards chartered status. You will have demonstrable experience in transmission development / design / specification and be comfortable to technically assess issues and/or problems and critically assess a range of technical solutions. 

- Experience working on the Transmission Network and an extensive knowledge of High Voltage Cables. You will have an in-depth knowledge of the legal and regulatory obligations for Transmission and be pro-active in insuring these are met to the highest standard. An excellent technical understanding of relevant legislation and the implications of this for Transmission network management for both Assets and Projects, including CDM & ESQCR is essential. 

- Effective communication skills are essential, and you should be able to communicate often complex technical issues in a clear and concise manner to facilitate decision making by senior management. You should be confident working alongside key stakeholders at all levels both internally and externally with an appetite for building strong, lasting relationships.
