Salary: £121,800 - £182,600 + car /car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

In this key senior leadership role in SSEN Transmission’s Offshore Delivery directorate you will lead the development and delivery of offshore engineering HVDC and AC projects within the Offshore Delivery portfolio with a cumulative programme value (and financial responsibility) of c.£25-30bn+ over the current forecast period of 2024-2034.

The role is responsible for developing strategies for future Engineering and Commissioning aligned with SSEN Transmission Offshore needs.

In this role you will:

  • Lead the strategic development and execution of a portfolio of offshore HVAC and HVDC transmission projects, ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality throughout the lifecycle.
  • Establish and oversee a world-class engineering and commissioning function to support project delivery, providing leadership to a multidisciplinary team of engineers.
  • You will champion SSEN Transmission’s Safety, Project and Leadership values and will provide inspirational leadership, clear direction, guidance, support and challenge to your teams.
  • As a member of the Offshore Directorate Senior Leadership team you will be an exceptional team player, and will contribute to Directorate Strategy, Planning and Budget Setting and will sit on Transmission Executive Sub Committees as required.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders to positively influence the delivery of our portfolio of projects and wider Transmission and SSE business objectives, including government bodies, regulatory authorities and industry partners.
  • Ensure robust technical governance, risk management, and compliance with regulatory requirements to support business objectives.

You will have:

  • A degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience with detailed knowledge and proven delivery experience of HVDC and FACTS.
  • Experience in the management and leadership of Offshore Transmission Interconnector or Renewable Energy projects or projects within Marine construction or the Offshore Oil and Gas industry.
  • A proven track record in managing complex, multi-billion-pound engineering programmes including stakeholder engagement at senior government and regulatory levels.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of project engineering management systems and technical governance arrangements for development and execution of large capital projects.
  • Exceptional leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to drive strategic technical direction and organisational excellence.
