Mechanical Craftsperson

Base Location: Foyers Power Station, Foyers, IV2

Salary:  SS04 £36,139 - £43,188 depending on skills and experience + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

SSE Renewables Hydro operate the largest fleet of hydro-electric power assets across eight hydro schemes in Scotland. Our portfolio totals 1,459MW of installed capacity, which includes pumped storage and flexible hydro. Our assets consist of some of the most iconic power station sites constructed, which brought hydro-electric power to the Scottish Glens 80 years ago.

As Mechanical Craftsperson, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and repair of our Hydro Generation plant to ensure it is kept in a safe and efficient state. You’ll be an important member of the operations and maintenance team, performing a key role in the safe operation and maintenance of the Hydro Generation assets.

Some of your other main accountabilities will include;

• Carrying out mechanical maintenance, multidisciplinary defect rectification, repairs and designated project work across our Hydro Generation assets.
• Completing routine inspections and checks to ensure generation equipment and fixed plant remain safe, reliable and operationally effective.
• Undertaking risk assessments and environmental and safety inspections, with training provided to operate Hydro Generation plant.
• Collaborating with colleagues to identify, report and resolve operational defects as they arise.

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have;

• A mechanical or multi-skilled craft background, with experience working on heavy rotating machinery preferred.
• An NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds qualification or equivalent recognised craft apprenticeship certification.
• Good computer literacy, with full training provided on our in-house maintenance scheduling and reporting software.

A full and valid UK driving licence is essential, and a first aid qualification would be advantageous.

Candidates should live or be willing to relocate to within 30 miles of base location
