Base Location: For these roles, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations and you'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in the office - Perth, Glasgow, Inverness or Aberdeen.
Salary: £36,200 - £80,000 + car/car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The roles
SSEN Transmission has exciting Geotechnical opportunities for Assistant Engineers, Engineers and Senior Engineers to join our growing engineering teams.
Whether you're at the beginning of your engineering journey or already an experienced engineer looking for your next challenge, you'll have the opportunity to help deliver the infrastructure that will enable the UK's transition to net zero.
As SSEN Transmission invests billions to upgrade the network and connect renewable generation across the UK, you'll work on some of the country's largest and most ambitious transmission and substation projects, helping to deliver a cleaner, more secure energy future.
Working across a diverse portfolio of transmission and substation projects operating at voltages up to 400kV, you'll contribute to the development and delivery of innovative engineering solutions that will power communities for generations to come.
You will
- Collaborate across disciplines to provide geotechnical insight on projects, including substations, overhead lines, and onshore cable routes.
- Support the civil engineering team in scopes for geotechnical works and review of contractor designs ensuring alignment with project needs and contract requirements.
- Support early-stage project development, including site selection, ground investigations, and feasibility studies.
- Support the geotechnical team in the development of guidance documents, geotechnical data management and innovation projects.
- Champion safe, thoughtful design by managing geotechnical risks and contributing to CDM responsibilities as part of the Principal Designer team.
You have
- A degree in geology, engineering geology or geotechnical engineering or a related discipline, with a strong foundation in ground investigations, earthworks, and foundations.
- Hands-on experience working on or supervising large earthworks schemes.
- Confidence in reviewing technical deliverables, including desk studies, ground investigation reports, foundation designs, slope stability reports, earthwork strategies and material management plans to establish ground risk and suitability of design/proposals.
- A solid grasp of industry standards and regulations, including ECC contracts and CDM duties, particularly in supervisory and design roles and experience working in the energy sector either in a client or designer capacity.
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with a proactive approach to managing time and collaborating across multi discipline teams.
