The role

This is a senior leadership role with real impact. As our Large Capital Safety Manager, you’ll lead safety across some of the UK’s most significant electricity infrastructure programmes, ensuring major projects are delivered safely, responsibly and in line with legal and regulatory expectations.

You’ll be a trusted technical expert and adviser, influencing leaders, project teams and contractors to build strong safety cultures across complex, high‑risk environments including onshore and offshore construction.

You will

  • Provide strategic leadership on safety across a large portfolio of capital projects, shaping how safety is designed, governed and delivered from early design through to construction and handover.
  • Act as the key safety authority for major projects, offering expert advice and independent assurance that legal, regulatory and industry standards are met.
  • Work closely with senior leaders, engineers, project managers and contractors to identify risks early and put effective, proportionate controls in place.
  • Set clear safety expectations with contractors and suppliers, holding them to account and driving continuous improvement in ways of working.
  • Lead, develop and support a specialist safety team, creating a positive culture of learning, collaboration and high performance.

You have

  • Significant experience leading safety, health or wellbeing activities on large, complex capital projects within a regulated or high‑hazard industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK construction and infrastructure safety legislation, including Construction Design and Management (CDM) requirements.
  • The confidence and credibility to influence at senior level and challenge constructively where standards are not being met.
  • A professional safety qualification (for example NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent) and membership of a recognised professional body, or the ability to work towards it.
  • A structured, analytical approach combined with strong communication skills and a genuine commitment to creating safe, inclusive working environments.
