Base Location: Tarbert Power Station, County Kerry

Salary: €41,600 -€62,400 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

As an Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Technician, you'll play a key role in maintaining the systems that monitor, control and protect power generation equipment across the station.Working as part of the engineering team, you'll help ensure the safety, reliability and efficiency of plant operations through planned maintenance, fault finding, improvement projects and contractor management activities.

You will

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on instrumentation and control systems to help keep plant and equipment operating safely and reliably.
  • Support instrumentation and controls projects, contributing to the specification, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning of new or upgraded equipment.  
  • Manage and coordinate contractors on site, ensuring work is delivered safely and in line with technical and operational requirements.
  • Control isolations, permits and safe access to equipment, taking responsibility for safe systems of work when appointed as an Authorised Person.
  • Maintain accurate technical records, calibration information, drawings and maintenance documentation, helping identify opportunities for continuous improvement

You have

  • A National Craft Certificate in Instrumentation at NFQ Level 6, or an equivalent instrumentation and control qualification.
  • Experience maintaining instrumentation, control or process automation equipment within an industrial, manufacturing, utilities or power generation environment.
  • Experience managing permits, isolations and safe systems of work in a safety-critical environment.  
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify practical solutions and make sound technical decisions.
  • Competent in the use of Enterprise Asset Management software for work control. Experience in Maximo would be beneficial

Experience with calibration activities, PLCs, SCADA systems, remote I/O, operational technology, control systems, cyber security risks to operational technology, hazardous area equipment or contractor management would be advantageous, but we welcome applications from candidates with transferable skills and relevant experience.
