What is the Role?
Our 12-week Land, Consents and Environment Summer Placement gives you the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across different stages of the transmission project lifecycle. You’ll support environmental assessments and site inspections, review project documentation and work with engineering and construction teams to help avoid or minimise environmental impacts. You’ll build relationships with colleagues, contractors, regulators and local communities while developing your knowledge of environmental compliance, consenting and risk management.
Our Land, Consents & Environment teams help ensure projects are developed and delivered responsibly, balancing environmental, planning and regulatory requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
What we're looking for
You'll be in at least second year of your undergraduate degree. If studying a Masters you should be in your penultimate year, and intending to return to university following the completion of your placement. The disciplines available at each location are:
- Aberdeen: Geography, Town Planning, Environmental Science, Ecology, Environmental Management, Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, Biodiversity Net Gain, Environmental Restoration, Natural Sciences, Biology, Zoology, or PR and Communications, Rural land/estate management, Rural Business Management, Land economy or Agri-Business Management or Agriculture
- Inverness: Geography, Town Planning, Environmental Science, Ecology, Environmental Management, Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, Biodiversity Net Gain, Environmental Restoration, Natural Sciences, Biology, Zoology, or PR and Communications

We're looking for students who:
- Are curious, adaptable and motivated to learn, develop and gain new experiences.
- Has a genuine interest in infrastructure development, stakeholder engagement and the factors that influence successful project delivery.
- Works well with others, building positive relationships and collaborating effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- You don't need to know everything on day one. What matters most is your willingness to learn, contribute and make the most of the opportunities your placement provides.
