About the Role
Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, or Inverness.

Reporting to the Director of LCPS (Large Capital Project Services), as Head of Quality, LCPS you will be responsible for developing, maintaining and leading a team of Quality Managers and Advisors to support and verify SSE’s portfolio of Large Capital Projects (LCP) are delivered in accordance with approved systems, procedures, contractual requirements and the LCP Governance Framework Manual. You will engage key stakeholders utilising an understanding of SSE’s growth strategy, energy industry and global supply chain to ensure the LCP Governance Framework, Quality Assurance services and surveillance are continually improved to support strategic growth.
The main responsibilities of this role will be;
Understand SSE’s strategic growth plans, supply chain and external environment to lead the deployment of impactful Quality Assurance services and interventions throughout the project lifecycle instilling excellence and high standards that realise shareholder value.
Leadership of the LCPS Quality function fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment to deliver best-in class support and enhance the team’s capabilities to support projects of increasing scale and complexity.
Provide integrated quality management support to deliver a £multi-billion capital investment portfolio to meet SSE’s Net Zero Acceleration Plan and wider business goals ensuring efficiency in cost, schedule and performance metrics.
Design, establish, implement and monitor certified quality management systems in accordance with BS EN ISO 9001 and collaborate with Business and Corporate functions to deliver continuous improvement initiatives across SSE.
Oversee updates to the LCP Governance Framework Manual, Quality Management System, Business Execution Plan, Business Continuity Plan and SHE Plan to ensure operational excellence across the LCPS function.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
A proven track record managing a quality function to deliver services that have supported capital investment projects and an understanding of the energy industry and markets within which it operates.
Inclusive leadership fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment as well as empowering and supporting team members realise personal development.
A growth mindset with experience building positive relationships with stakeholders, joint venture and supply chain partners understanding their requirements to maintain strategic alignment of a project support or delivery function.
Previous experience having reviewed and maintained a governance framework that has supported disciplined investment decisions and delivering capital investment including quality management systems and management plans to deliver operational excellence.
Substantial previous experience in delivering quality assurance services and ideally you will hold a relevant bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, project management, or CQI recognised Quality Management qualification.

Large Capital Project Services (LCPS) is responsible for providing the Group Executive Committee and SSE's Business Unit Executive Committees with independent assurance services to help inform investment decisions and manage the performance of Large Capital Projects throughout their lifecycle to realise the benefits within the Project Business Case and the wider strategic Business objectives.
