Base Location: Glasgow or Perth

The role
SSE’s Thermal business is growing as we work towards a Net Zero economy, and we need a proactive and highly organised finance professional to support us on this exciting journey. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a supportive team where your meticulous attention to detail and ability to keep everything running smoothly will be highly valued. You will play a key role in financial control, fixed assets, month-end processes, and supporting the annual accounts process, all while contributing to a sustainable future. You will also have the chance to develop your career, broaden your experience, and work alongside a team with a wealth of knowledge to share.
You will
• Support Thermal Accountants and the Finance Manager with month-end analysis.
• Accrual and prepayments journal posting.
• Take ownership of several Balance Sheet reconciliations.
• Support the team with the production of Annual Accounts and assist in external audit.
• Work with the wider Thermal team to assist in maintaining controls established to ensure SSE's robust compliance targets.
You have
• Part-qualified accountant preferred (ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA) with experience in a Finance role. Consideration will also be given to candidates with relevant work experience who have not started professional qualifications.
• A proactive, flexible, and collaborative mindset, ready to take on varied and challenging tasks as part of a team.
• Strong organisational skills, a keen eye for detail, and a methodical approach to problem-solving. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high standards.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial messages clearly to both internal and external stakeholders.
• Proficiency in IT, particularly MS Excel, with Power BI experience being an advantage.
