The role 

SSEN Transmission is looking for a proactive Operations Project Manager to join the Asset Management & Operations (AM&O) team. In this role, you'll help deliver the RIIO-T3 business plan, lead projects on control system upgrades, condition-based monitoring installations, and innovation projects. The role also involves supporting Service Level Agreements for the AM&O team. You will 

  • Lead multi-disciplined project teams who are involved in various Operations related projects. This will include key team members within Transmission Operations, the wider Asset Management & Operations Directorate and colleagues across the business. 

  • Deliver a £40m portfolio of capital projects (Base Capex and Large Capital Projects) within the RIIO-T3 portfolio, ensuring on-time, on-budget, and high-quality delivery. You will ensure business requirements and project governance are met, and that the solution is sustainable and fit-for-purpose. 

  • Support the definition, execution and management of Service Level Agreements with OEM partners for a variety of critical operational assets. 

  • Play a key part of the Transmission Operations Management Team, responsible for closure of any warranty works that arise post gate 5 and work closely with the Contractor to achieve this goal. 

  • Coordinate contractors for emergency repairs, defect fixes, and upgrades at live assets. Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with Health and Safety criteria, including CDM and ESQC regulations. 

 

You have 

  • A strong engineering, construction or operations background, preferably with HV substation, GIS, HV Cable or HVDC/FACTS experience including safety and CDM regulations. Experience and an understanding of the administration of the NEC3 suite of contracts is advantageous. 

  • The ability to deliver within challenging timescales, the ability to effectively prioritise, plan and organise, balance immediate and long-term business priorities 

  • The ability to understand Industry legislation, Health and Safety legislation, regulatory requirements and SSEN Company policies and procedures. 

  • Relationship building experience with team members, engineers, managers, procurement, and contractors. Strong communication and presentation skills are essential.  

  • Due to the location of our projects, there is a need to have an applicable driver's license.
