Head of Risk & Assurance

Base Location: Flexible UK, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading or Havant.

Salary: £78,400 - £117,600 + car /car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead the SSE Renewables Risk & Assurance Team, playing a critical role in enabling delivery of our strategic objectives and a net zero future. The Head of Risk & Assurance acts as a key strategic advisor to the Renewables Executive Committee, through the provision of industry leading risk and assurance services. The successful candidate will lead a multi-disciplinary team of professionals, responsible for business and SHE assurance, enterprise risk management, business resilience and regulatory compliance.

You will

  • Be responsible for the integrated assurance framework within SSE Renewables, ensuring assurance activities are directed to areas of highest risk and outputs generate value for the business.
  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the business resilience framework, ensuring the business is prepared to respond to our highest disruption risks.
  • Be accountable for SSE Renewables' Enterprise Risk Management Framework, acting as a strategic advisor to Executives and Leadership on risk management, emerging risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Work closely with colleagues in other Business Units and Group to integrate assurance frameworks, share intelligence and maximise value from assurance activities.
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary, high performing team, maintaining a culture of inclusivity, empowerment and continuous improvement.

You have

  • Extensive experience in a risk and/or assurance background, preferably within the Energy sector.
  • Ability to lead and influence senior stakeholders on complex risk areas, including at Executive and Board level.
  • Experience of leading high performing multi-disciplinary teams, including coaching and mentorship.
  • Ability to understand complex business problems with a commercial mindset, and establish pragmatic solutions.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Renewables industry, including the regulatory and legal landscape.
