Base Location: This role is mobile and predominantly field based, however we require your base 'home' location to be within commuting distance to one of our SSEN Depots in Inverness.

Salary: £36,139 - £43,188 + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time

- Up to £4,442 for overtime payments & up to £3,820 for standby payments, giving you a potential of £8,262 extra (subject to qualifications).

The role

As a Utility Arboriculture Surveyor, you’ll play a key role in surveying the overhead power line network, identifying vegetation encroachments, and developing tree management solutions that maintain network safety, reliability, and compliance with company procedures.

You will

  • Support ENATS 43-08 maintenance activities, deliver ETR132 resilience programmes, and respond to a range of network-related enquiries.
  • Conduct comprehensive vegetation encroachment surveys across the overhead power line network.
  • Produce accurate reports and maintain detailed documentation of survey findings.
  • Prepare work packs and supporting documentation for operational teams to carry out planned activities.
  • Coordinate and negotiate access and consents with landowners and other third-party stakeholders.

You have

  • Utility arboriculture knowledge and practical experience, including UA5.1/5.2 certification or equivalent industry expertise.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with customers, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications and confidence using a range of IT systems and digital tools.
  • A proactive, safety-focused approach, with the ability to work independently and use initiative to achieve positive outcomes.

A full, clean manual driving licence and willingness to travel across the network area as required.
