The role

We have an exciting opportunity to join the team delivering the Eastern Green Link 3 HVDC project, connecting Scotland and England to enable the transfer of renewable electricity to key UK demand centres. As one of SSEN Transmission’s largest projects over the next decade, it includes HVDC converter stations, subsea cable installation, and AC connections at either end.

We are recruiting a Project Manager to join the Northern Civils work package, delivering civils and buildings for the northern converter station in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the largest project on the UK transmission network while developing your career at the forefront of the Net Zero transition.

The project is in early execution, with a focus on design development and early contractor and consultant procurement. You will work closely with design and procurement teams to prepare for on-site works commencing in 2028.

You will

- Support the Senior Project Manager in the development of the Northern converter civils and buildings work package from tendering through to execution.

- Plan, Monitor, and Control projects or packages in line with Project Execution Plans to ensure that these are executed to cost, schedule and quality.

- Be accountable for commercial aspects of delivery including NEC/FIDIC contract management, ensuring that any disputes are escalated as appropriate for resolution.

- Ensure the use of recognised project management processes, reporting, methods, techniques and tools.

- Interface and collaborate with other EGL3 Work Package contractors (HVDC Technology, Onshore Cables, Design Consultants).

You have

- Proven track record of safely delivering projects/programmes across the full lifecycle to cost, schedule and quality, ideally within Transmission, Construction, Energy, utilities or other regulated environments (civils and buildings experience beneficial).

- Relevant qualification in engineering, construction, or project management (or equivalent practical experience).

- Strong engineering/construction knowledge, including environmental and safety legislation (e.g. CDM 2015).

- Commercially astute, with experience negotiating, administering and managing contracts (e.g. NEC/FIDIC) and operating within regulated governance and reporting frameworks.

- Experience delivering disaggregated contracts with complex interfaces, with the ability to support senior leadership (including deputising for the Senior Project Manager and making key decisions when required).
