The role

As Engineering Manager, you’ll lead the station’s maintenance team whilst developing and implementing strategy and overseeing both day-to-day activity and long-term engineering plans. You’ll manage key contracts, capital investment and planned outages, ensuring maintenance is delivered safely, efficiently and cost-effectively while supporting the station’s long-term generation performance.

Some of your other main accountabilities will include;

• Motivate and lead Tarbert and the Peaking Plants engineering teams.
• Maintaining the plant to high standards by applying industry best practice, helping ensure it can reliably deliver its rated output with minimal interruptions and high availability.
• Contributing to the development and delivery of the station’s short and long-term strategy.
• Developing and continually optimising the maintenance and asset register to support the plant’s long-term viability, balancing cost, performance and risk.
• Developing robust maintenance standards to support efficient, reliable plant operations.
• Ensuring the station has sufficient skilled, competent and trained staff in place to maintain the plant safely and efficiently.

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have;

• A strong understanding of business processes and key performance indicators, with the ability to use these to support effective decision making and performance improvement.
• A continuous improvement mindset, with a focus on enhancing performance across all station KPI’s.
• A proactive approach to anticipating future challenges and planning ahead to support effective delivery.
• Experience setting clear, measurable objectives for teams and individuals, supported by regular performance reviews and feedback.
• A proactive leadership style, with the confidence to take ownership of team tasks and drive them through to successful completion.
