We are looking for a Contracts Manager to join the team!

The Contracts Manager working for the Capital, Inspection and Maintenance group, will have the responsibility of delivering diverse multi-voltage projects as part of our Annual Business Plan. You will deliver this using a mixed use of Contractor resource overseeing both Safety and delivery to the required standards.

We are looking for someone who can plan, deliver and report on these works to meet our outputs outlined in the ED2 settlement. A good Team worker with the ability to be flexible and continually improve our performance to maximise efficiency and cost savings across our portfolio of projects.

You will:

  • Take responsibility for the safe delivery of multi-voltage projects across capital, inspection, and maintenance works.
  • Manage external framework contractors on site, making sure work is carried out safely, on time, and to the right standard.
  • Plan and set up work programmes in line with the business plan and agreed priorities.
  • Manage project budgets, keeping a close eye on costs and ensuring good control of project values.
  • Track progress and spend across your projects, providing clear updates and helping to improve efficiency and value for money.

You have:

  • A solid engineering or construction background, ideally with hands-on experience in overhead lines or substations from Low Voltage up to 33kV, and a good working knowledge of safety and CDM requirements, with experience delivering large projects.
  • Able to manage and control costs effectively, with a clear understanding of industry rules, health and safety requirements, and SSEN policies and procedures.
  • Experience leading and developing large, multi-disciplinary teams and getting the best out of people.
  • Delivery-focused, with the ability to achieve strong results to tight timescales in a busy, high-pressure environment.
  • Confident managing multiple project challenges at the same time, able to assess risks, prioritise what matters, and deal with issues as they arise.

**Regular travel is required and as a result we can only accept applications from candidates that hold a current driving licence. **

This role involves travel across various locations to support business needs. To enable you to fulfil these responsibilities, as a role requirement, the company will provide access to a vehicle for work-related travel.

The requirement will be reviewed on an ongoing basis, and if the company car policy criteria are met, there will be an opportunity to join the company car scheme. Provision of a company car or cash allowance does not form part of the contractual terms and conditions of employment for this role.
