About the Role

Base Location: Flexible Scotland

Salary: £40,600 - £61,000 + Performance-related bonus+ a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

SSE is currently undergoing a 5 year+ £1Bn IT transformation programme spanning all areas of the business to support its continuing strategy. Finance Transformation is in its 3rd year as a programme which has been simplifying its processes, systems, controls and data and is now embarking on a Digital journey to ensure its Finance function is fit for purpose and can move in an agile way to support the implementation of the ambitious SSE overall strategy.

The main purpose of the Transformation office senior analyst, reporting to the Transformation Portfolio  lead, is to perform and coordinate the core Transformation Office functions including transformation level reporting, document management, portfolio governance and assurance. Align and work closely with programme leads and project managers to drive the programme standards and methodology and have end to end ownership of an assigned programme within the portfolio. This includes owning programme plans, status reporting, and being involved in the management of the governance model and associated guidelines for RAID logs, governance meeting forums including oversight of materials, actions etc and ensuring consistency of governance approach. The role will also include supporting the development and management of Transformation strategic change roadmaps and managing the many interdependencies that will be in play across the separate programmes and underlying projects.

The key responsibilities of this role are:

- Being responsible for the coordination of day-to-day activities within the Finance Transformation Office, including production of portfolio level reporting, project financial control and reporting, and project management standards and frameworks.

- Driving continuous improvement and maintain an appropriate governance framework aligned to SSE standards for the programme and project deliveries, including creation of policies, procedures and templates, in order to deliver the necessary delivery capability to support delivery of the strategic   change roadmap and business objectives.

- Managing the submission of consolidated progress reports, aligned to objectives and key results for any programme and projects delivery into governance boards, senior management and executives to agreed reporting timetable.

- Monitoring the programmes and projects end-to-end, ensuring that the delivery is on time, within budget, minimising potential risks and assessing to make sure it meets all strategic objectives.

- Using programme reporting to analyse programme health and identify areas for improvement and appropriate interventions as well as identify deviations from baselined milestones or agreed budget.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- As part of a PMO Portfolio/Transformation Office, have supported Programme/Project Managers within both Process and IT led changes – essential, Ideally have experience of working as a Project Manager for small changes

- Demonstrable ability to build positive relationships through strong communication, influencing and negotiating with project and programme stakeholders, including the wider PMO team.

- Demonstrable experience of applying and advising project governance frameworks.

- An understanding of a Corporate Finance Function and having worked on a Finance Transformation programme would be preferred

- Prince 2 qualified or with equivalent experience in project management methodologies/practices like Agile framework.
