Technical Training Support Manager

Salary: £42,600 to + £64,000 +car /car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

Reporting directly to the South Technical Training Manager, the main purpose of the role is to manage the Craft Training teams (Overhead Line and Jointing Trainers). You will manage expectations with our Stakeholders as well as engage and communicate with them to ensure effective management of our craft training programmes.

You will

  • Promote and enhance safety by ensuring that our craft training and assessments adopt and adhere to our safety culture, that our delivery is in line with the safe systems of work implemented in the businesses we support, and that we set the right example with the behaviours of our teams and control of our assets.
  • Manage the performance, competence and efficiency of our craft training delivery teams through observation, monitoring of key performance indicators, coaching and personal development plans. Ensure the knowledge and skills of the team are aligned to training delivery requirements for the businesses we support.
  • Maintain and continually improve the quality of the craft training and assessment delivered in line with the Learning and Talent Quality Management system which will include standardisation activity to ensure consistency, as well as meeting all requirements of external awarding bodies for accredited learning and funding of apprenticeships.                     
  • Facilitate communication with business key stakeholders in order to understand craft training delivery needs to enable planning of resources and prioritisation, and with internal team contacts in the planning of apprenticeship programme delivery.
  • Ensure craft training delivery is efficient to maximise productivity and control budgetary spend for materials, equipment, transport and travel.

You have

  • Knowledge of SSE’s products and services as well as compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • A strong track record of managing teams, be able to communicate with confidence to senior management and be able to translate business strategy into working level solutions for the team.
  • Will be able to work effectively both individually and as part of a team, being able to adapt to a changing workload prioritising tasks effectively and possess critical thinking and problem-solving expertise.
  • Technical operational background in the business craft activities (Jointing and Linesperson) delivered would be useful but not essential.
