The role

The IT & OT Service Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the seamless integration and management of IT and Operational Technology (OT) services within the organisation delivered by the IT Outsource partner. This role ensures that both IT and OT services align with the strategic objectives and operational requirements of the business, delivering optimal performance, reliability, and security to maximise availability and ensure a seamless, positive user experience. The individual will act as a key liaison between internal stakeholders and external service providers, ensuring effective governance and operational oversight of the contractual performance of the Service Integrator.

You will

  • Service Integration and Management (SIAM): Manage the operational integration of IT and OT services to current industry standard and relevant contractual agreements, ensuring cohesive and efficient operations across both domains.
  • Outsourced and Third-Party Collaboration: Manage relationships with outsourced service providers, SSE teams and third-party partners to ensure delivery of contracted services and adherence to SLAs.
  • Operational Oversight: Provide operational oversight of outsourced delivery partners, ensuring compliance with service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Major Incident Management: Support Major Incident Management, coordinating responses to incidents and ensuring timely resolution to minimise impact on business operations. You will be part of the Service Operations Duty Manager roster and on call to provide 24/7 support.
  • IT Service Management (ITSM): Implement and maintain IT service management processes and frameworks, ensuring best practices are followed through close collaboration with Service Strategy and Service/Process Architecture.

You have

  • Understanding of both IT and OT operational environments, including how technology performance, resilience, and availability directly affect business continuity, safety, and operational outcomes.
  • Familiarity with recognised industry standards and best practices for service operations and incident management, supporting consistent processes, effective governance, and continual service improvement.
  • Familiarity with outsourcing and third-party service delivery models, including working with suppliers to manage performance, clarify ownership, and maintain service quality across end-to-end operations.
  • Proficiency in ITIL principles and service management tools, with the ability to apply structured processes to incident, problem, change, request, and service performance management.
  • Strong incident management skills, including experience acting as a key incident commander to coordinate resolver groups, manage communications, drive timely resolution, and reduce business impact during major incidents.
