Salary: £50,964 - £76,581 + Overtime, Standby, Company Car/Car allowance + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

We have an opportunity for an Operations Engineer to join our team supporting capital delivery activities on the SSEN Transmission network. Based within the Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire area, the role will involve planning and executing outages, supporting and witnessing commissioning and testing activities, and where required assisting with equipment maintenance.  Successful candidates will be required to build on their operational experience and gain operational authorisations, such as Senior Authorised Person at 400kV.  

You will.  

  • Control and manage the interface between construction activities and live operational apparatus. Review RAMS and supporting documentation. 
  • Prepare and submit outage plans, switching schedules and commissioning documentation. Carry out HV Switching in a controlled manner, and issue appropriate safety documents (e.g. PTW or SFT)  
  • Undertake and/or witness commissioning and testing, for example Cable or GIS HV Pressure testing, Transformer testing, Circuit Breaker timing and gas handling. 
  • Support and work pragmatically with project teams to resolve quality issues. 
  • Assist in the development of trainee engineers.   

You have

  • HND in a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.  
  • Full valid driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout the Aberdeenshire region
  • Operational Authorisations to Authorised Person, or Senior Authorised person would be advantageous. 
  • An awareness of CDM regulations and detailed understanding of operational safety
  • Willingness to participate in a Standby Rota.
