Base Location: Glasgow or Perth
Salary: £55,200 - £83,000 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role
SSEN Transmission has an opportunity for a Senior System Planning Engineer to join our Network Policy team within our Strategic Energy Planning department.
Your work delivered within this role will contribute to power system analysis, strategies, investments and external positioning, in areas including north of Scotland, future network policy, long term network development and the next price control.
You will
- Lead and support the development of network planning policies through working group participation and engagement with internal and external partners and stakeholders.
- Undertake, review and direct where appropriate power system analysis in support of transmission network policy development.
- Research and communication of the energy network policy landscape and industry benchmarking to help decision-makers in the networks business optimise performance, investment decisions and strategic decisions.
- Working with a broad cross-section of the Business Planning and Commercial directorate, wider Networks business and corporate support services including development, engineering, customer experience, finance, regulation and corporate affairs, with stakeholders at all levels
- Supporting the development of data models; producing and developing reports and dashboards used to inform senior stakeholders. Improving the quality, quantity, regularity and consistency of research and insight that is collected and generated
- Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and licence requirements in the most economic, efficient and co-ordinated manner.
You have
- Positive influencing skills with the ability to find answers within a diverse engineering-focused organisation. Ability to manage and influence multiple internal stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work quickly, accurately and independently, to highly detailed briefs whilst under pressure. We are always interested in new ways of working and will look to you for innovative ideas to improve processes and move the business forwards.
- Good knowledge of the electricity industry, including interfaces with generator and demand customers, the regulator, the Electricity System Operator, other Transmission Owners and Distribution Network Operators.
- Some experience in power system analysis, design and planning, ideally within electricity transmission.
- The ability to write clear and well-structured reports, policies and network requirements and provide focused information for senior management.
- A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Physics or other STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) courses.
