The Role
This is an opportunity to take a leading engineering role in the delivery of Italy’s growing renewable energy pipeline.
As Senior Project Engineer, you’ll provide technical leadership across a portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy projects, taking projects from early development and design through procurement, construction, commissioning and operational handover.
With a significant pipeline of onshore wind projects, alongside the wider development of solar PV and battery energy storage, you’ll have the opportunity to influence how projects are designed, developed and ultimately delivered.
This isn’t simply a design review role. You’ll be trusted to challenge assumptions, solve complex engineering problems and influence important technical and commercial decisions, working with internal project teams, consultants, OEMs, contractors, grid operators and regulatory stakeholders.
We’re looking for someone who combines strong engineering judgement with the ability to see the bigger picture: balancing safety, quality, programme, cost and long-term performance to find the right solution.
Your experience doesn’t need to have followed one particular route. If you’ve delivered complex projects within renewable energy, power generation, transmission, electrical infrastructure or another relevant large-scale energy environment, we’d be interested in hearing from you.
You Will
Lead the engineering delivery of utility-scale renewable energy projects across Italy, providing technical leadership from development and design through construction, commissioning and operational handover.
Shape and optimise engineering solutions, reviewing designs, studies and technical specifications to ensure projects are safe, compliant, constructible, cost-effective and designed for strong long-term operational performance.
Provide technical leadership throughout project development and procurement, supporting site selection, design development, technical due diligence, tender preparation, technical evaluation and contractor selection.
Lead and challenge external engineering partners, including consultants, Owner’s Engineers, OEMs and contractors, while developing effective relationships with grid operators, regulatory authorities and other key stakeholders.
Identify and manage technical, programme and cost risks, embedding safety by design and using value engineering and continuous improvement to achieve better project and commercial outcomes.
You Have
A degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical or Energy Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience, together with significant experience delivering complex utility-scale energy, renewable or infrastructure projects.
Strong technical understanding of project delivery, with experience relevant to areas such as balance of plant, MV/HV electrical systems, substations, transmission infrastructure, grid connections and associated civil infrastructure. We don’t expect you to be the specialist in every discipline.
Experience reviewing and challenging engineering studies, drawings, technical specifications and contractor deliverables, ideally combined with knowledge of Italian engineering standards, permitting or project development processes.
The ability to combine technical and commercial thinking, with experience supporting procurement, contractor management, budget control, risk management and value engineering within multidisciplinary project teams.
Strong communication, stakeholder management and leadership skills, with the confidence to challenge, influence and make sound engineering recommendations. Fluency in English is required. Professional Italian language skills are preferred, and Spanish would be an advantage.
