Base Location: You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in our Bilbao office.

Salary: €Competitive depending on experience + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available

The role

Telecoms & Cyber Security might sit behind the scenes on a renewable energy project, but without secure and reliable communications, very little works.

As Telecoms & Cyber Security Engineer, you’ll lead and coordinate the design, integration and delivery of telecommunications infrastructure across our European renewable energy portfolio, from feasibility through construction and commissioning to operational handover.

The scale gives you plenty to work with. Our international business is progressing around 3.3GW of secured development pipeline, including approximately 1.3GW onshore wind, 1GW offshore wind, almost 800MW solar PV and around 200MW battery storage.

That mix creates an opportunity not just to deliver individual systems, but to influence how we approach telecommunications, networking and Operational Technology Cyber Security as our European portfolio develops.

You will

  • Lead telecommunications engineering across renewable energy projects, coordinating with electrical, civil, mechanical, control systems and other engineering disciplines.
  • Develop technical specifications and requirements for telecommunications and control systems, supporting tendering, technical evaluation and supplier selection.
  • Review and challenge supplier designs and technical submissions, ensuring systems meet project requirements, engineering standards and relevant regulations.
  • Support factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning and operational handover of telecommunications, networking and control system equipment.
  • Work with suppliers, contractors and project teams to solve technical problems, strengthen Operational Technology cyber security and identify technologies or approaches that improve performance and value.

You have

  • A degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical industry experience.
  • Experience designing, implementing or operating telecommunications networks within substations, renewable generation, utilities or another industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of fibre-optic networks, microwave radio, digital mobile radio, LTE/4G/5G communications and IP-based networking and security infrastructure.
  • An understanding of industrial communications and Operational Technology cyber security, including secure-by-design principles. Experience with IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 61850, DNP3 or IEC 62443 would be particularly valuable.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with fluency in English. Spanish language capability and renewable energy control-system experience would be advantageous.
