The role

SSE Renewables is rapidly expanding in Southern Europe — and Italy is at the heart of that growth. As part of our long-term investment plan, we're developing approximately 1GW of onshore wind capacity across the country.

We’ve already broken ground: construction is underway on our first Italian onshore wind farm. Now, we’re looking for a commercially astute Senior Portfolio Project Manager to help lead the next wave.

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the future of SSE’s Italian pipeline — owning project strategy, delivery, and growth across multiple technologies. You’ll work with a well-resourced, international team, with the autonomy to lead high-impact projects and the backing of one of Europe’s leading renewable energy developers.

You will

• Take full ownership of the development lifecycle for large-scale renewable energy projects in Italy, from early-stage opportunity to ready-to-build.
• Shape and grow our Italian pipeline, leading high-value wind, solar and storage projects in line with SSE’s European strategy.
• Operate with significant autonomy while having access to internal technical, commercial, and legal experts across Europe, develop specification, timeline, milestones and budget for the projects.
• Represent SSE Renewables externally, building strategic relationships with key stakeholders, regulators and partners.
• Influence investment decisions, drive commercial value, and contribute to shaping the future of our business in the Italian market.

You have

• Proven experience in developing renewable energy or infrastructure projects in Italy – ideally across full lifecycle.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to unlock value through partnerships, permits and stakeholder engagement.
• Technical understanding of project planning tools, environmental impact assessments and grid connection processes.
• Fluency in Italian and English (Spanish is a plus), with excellent communication and influencing skills.
• A strategic mindset and hands-on attitude, comfortable working independently or leading cross-functional teams.
