Are you a mechanical engineer who enjoys solving problems, improving asset performance and delivering projects that make a real impact? We're looking for a Mechanical & Projects Engineer to join our team at Tarbert Power Station, where you'll play a key role in maintaining critical generation assets and supporting the delivery of engineering projects that help keep energy flowing safely and reliably.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team, you'll combine technical expertise with project delivery skills to improve plant performance, support operational excellence and contribute to the station's long-term strategy.

You will

  • Lead the maintenance and improvement of mechanical plant and equipment, ensuring high standards of safety, reliability, availability and efficiency.
  • Deliver engineering projects from concept through to commissioning, including business case development, specification, procurement, contractor management and implementation. 
  • Manage maintenance activities, budgets and contractor resources to support safe and efficient plant operation. 
  • Develop and maintain engineering records, technical documentation and asset history to support compliance requirements and audits. 
  • Provide technical advice and engineering support to operational teams while contributing to the station's engineering strategy and future investment plans. 

You have

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering. 
  • Experience working in a power generation, industrial processing, manufacturing or heavy engineering environment. 
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical plant and equipment, with the ability to identify risks and develop practical engineering solutions. 
  • Experience of planning, managing and delivering engineering projects safely, on time and within budget. 
  • Good stakeholder and communication skills, with experience using maintenance management systems such as Maximo or equivalent.
