The role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated OT Technical Systems Manager to join SSEN Transmission's Operational Technology (OT) Operations team.

As part of the OT Operations leadership team, you will lead a team responsible for the development, enhancement and resilience of critical OT systems that underpin Control Room operations and the wider transmission network. You will oversee the management and development of OT Graduates, Technicians and Engineers, building technical capability, supporting succession planning and ensuring the team is equipped to meet future business needs.

The role also has responsibility for capacity planning, governance and controlled access across live, pre-production and development environments, ensuring the secure operation of Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) systems.

Working closely with our OT Technical Support and Project teams, you will provide technical oversight and specialist resources to support the successful delivery of the T3 investment programme and wider operational priorities.

You will

  • Lead the development, enhancement and resilience of critical Operational Technology systems, ensuring they remain secure, compliant, highly available and fit for future needs.
  • Work closely with the Transmission Control Centre to enhance, optimise and simulate control system capabilities, supporting operational excellence, innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Manage cyber security, disaster recovery and operational resilience activities across OT systems, including proactive monitoring, backup and restoration testing, and overall risk reduction.
  • Provide leadership and development for the OT Systems team, managing resources, building technical capability and ensuring the effective delivery of business-as-usual, project and incident response activities.
  • Support innovation across OT systems through proof of concepts, technology evaluation and industry research, while acting as a technical escalation point for complex system issues and faults.

You have

  • Proven leadership experience within an Operational Technology, technical support or related engineering environment, with the judgement and credibility to operate effectively in a business-critical role.
  • Strong experience supporting, maintaining and enhancing Operational Technology systems, including ADMS, SCADA, data historians, telemetry and communications platforms.
