Join SSEN’s Capital Delivery Team in the Southern Licence area, supporting the replacement, maintenance, and upgrade of electrical power infrastructure across Wiltshire and Oxfordshire.
As a Plant and automation engineer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring safe, high-quality, and right-first-time installations, from on-site inspections to full commissioning of plant and automation schemes.
We’re looking for someone with SSEN operational authorisations, hands-on switchgear experience, and a passion for safety and service excellence.
You will:
Conduct on-site inspections to ensure compliance, quality, and right-first-time installation in collaboration with framework partners.
Travel across Ridgeway region sites, working closely with project management and design teams to maintain operational safety and high-quality standards.
Install and commission plant and automation schemes in both urban and rural environments.
Coordinate plant retrofitting and complete installation of local control units, communications modems, and antennas.
Perform full end-to-end commissioning of automated plant and complete automation schemes with Distribution Control Centres.
You have:
SSEN operational authorisations (CAT 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 10B, and CAT 15 11kV SFT) with training available for CAT 4E and automation installations if needed.
Operational experience on SSEN switchgear and knowledge of distribution automation systems.
Strong safety focus, motivation to work independently and collaboratively, and awareness of key stakeholders and electricity distribution customers.
Essential requirement: full, current driving licence.
Passion for delivering high standards in operational performance and customer service.
