Base Location: Perth

Salary: £47,600 - £71,600 + car /car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The Policy & Standards team within SSEN Transmission provides clear technical governance, input and design review for Projects, Transmission Planning, Operations and Asset Management.  This team is the single point of contact for technical decisions, and to ensure independence is separated from the Project Delivery function.

Reflecting the level of reliability required on the network, this team is required to cover all critical areas of expertise for effective operation of the SSEN Transmission network, in accordance with governing requirements such as the Grid Code and SQSS. 

The key responsibilities of the PAC (Protection Automation and Control) Integration Assurance Engineer are:

- Provide standardised test plans and routines for new Intelligent Electronic Devices (IED)s and configurations for use by Technical Services and Commissioning personnel”.

- Manage and maintain the digital libraries and standard configurations using appropriate System Configuration Tools.  

- Support assessment of new IEDs against SSEN Transmission specifications alongside PAC IED assurance engineer, UK and international standards.  Creation and testing of configurations to suit SSEN Transmission standard applications.

- Maintain approved PAC equipment register, support configurations, and manage the in progress Technical Assurance activity alongside PAC assurance engineer.

- Provide training material/programme for new IEDs and configurations for roll-out with Technical Services and Project Engineering.

- Assist the PAC Technical Authorities (TA) in various national and international working groups and assessments (ENA, IEC, CIGRE).

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Proven Knowledge of IEC 61850 / DNP3 and other communication protocols and standards.

- Knowledge of operation & configuration of PLCs/RTUs/HMIs, data networking equipment (design, configuration and troubleshooting).

- Proven knowledge and application of Zenon Copa data or equivalent HMI. (Gateways etc)

- Proven knowledge of Networking and timing, e.g. parallel redundance protocol, basic networking knowledge IP networks etc.

- Preferably knowledge of the following; Siemens DIGSI, Hitachi PCM600, Helinks STS or System Configuration tool for 61850 e.g calcatec alternative, Omicron Station Scout.
