About the Role

Base Location: Cardiff, Reading and Perth – this is a hybrid role working a minimum two days a week from the office at the advertised locations.

Salary: £52,285 - £60,730 + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available

What is the Role?

The Commercial function supports Business Energy in making great decisions backed by great numbers. As the Lead Pricing Analyst you will be responsible for the continued optimisation of the pricing structure within our operating platform, developing modelling capability to improve competitive pricing and to ensure Regulatory developments are suitably captured within our modelling. You will work closely with colleagues from across Business Energy to ensure non-commodity costs are optimised to balance risk/reward and to ensure the highest level of compliance with Regulatory obligations.

As part of your role you will:

- Develop and maintain the BE pricing strategy across our portfolio recommending pricing strategies including determination of right price point by portfolio, product, and customer to optimise short and long-term profitability.

- Work with key stakeholders across the business, to develop budget and forecasted expectations across the portfolio, demonstrating variability in risk and opportunities.

- Understand all relevant cost elements of each product and proposition and the impact to margin, including a thorough understanding of where we hold exposure and what mitigations could be implemented to manage this. You will monitor actual performance against budget and forecast and make recommendations to react to this variability.

- Develop pricing strategy for new and existing products to ensure price points are set to optimise sales opportunity and value. Provide pricing support to ensure that tender offerings are reflective of market conditions and in line with commercial guidelines.

- Monitor competitor pricing activity and provide insight on competitor strategy and tactics, considering wider political and regulatory environment. Overlay customer behaviour insight to place a much stronger focus on valuing competitor activity. 

- Coaching and development of commercial analysts to share knowledge and ideas and establish best practice pricing execution, including deployment of advanced data analytics, and streamlined processes.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Demonstrated pricing experience within the energy industry.

- Strong commercial understanding including financial principles, terms and concepts.

- Analytical experience with complex data sets and modelling.

- Experience in planning and delivering of complex project activities.

- Ability to negotiate, justify and articulate complex problems and actions to resolve.
