What is the Role?

At SSE, we're investing in the skills, infrastructure and technologies that will help power the UK's electricity future. From cyber security and operational technology to AI, automation and data, our technology teams play a vital role in delivering secure, reliable and innovative solutions across our business.

Our IT & OT Graduate Programme is designed for graduates who want to develop specialist expertise while making a real impact from day one. Over two years, you'll gain hands-on experience, work on meaningful projects and build the skills needed for a long-term career in IT. You'll join a specialist pathway and develop expertise in one of the following areas:

- AI, Data & Digital

- Cyber Security

- IT & Operational Technology

- Automation, Analytics & Data Governance

Alongside real project experience, you'll benefit from mentoring, structured development opportunities and support from experienced colleagues across SSE.

Following successful completion of the programme, you'll have the opportunity to progress into a permanent specialist role, helping to develop and deliver the technology solutions that support SSE's business and future ambitions. Recent graduate destinations have included specialist roles in AI, digital, cyber defence, operational technology, analytics and IT/OT engineering.

What We're Looking For

You'll have a minimum of a 2:2 honours degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or another relevant STEM-related discipline.

- Enjoys solving complex problems and using technology, data or engineering principles to find practical solutions.

- Has a genuine interest in technology and innovation, whether that's AI, cyber security, digital, data, automation or operational technology.

- Is curious, adaptable and motivated to learn, develop new skills and explore emerging technologies.

- Works well with others, building positive relationships and bringing different perspectives together to achieve shared goals.

- Takes ownership, uses initiative and wants to make a meaningful contribution to the technology solutions that SSE relies on every day.
