Base Location: Within the Sloy Awe Section at Clachan, Inverawe or Sloy Power Station.

Salary: SSE6 £45,452 to £54,311 depending on skills and experience + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time

The role

As part of the Hydro Maintenance Engineering Team, you'll play a key role in delivering a diverse portfolio of Control & Instrumentation (C&I), Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) maintenance, operational and project activities across the Sloy and Awe hydro assets. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the safe, reliable and efficient operation of critical renewable energy infrastructure while supporting the delivery of maintenance strategies and improvement projects.

Some of your main accountabilities will include;

  • Flood Gate Controller and Fish Pass Instrumentation Maintenance.
  • Water Level Transducer Installation, calibration and repair.
  • Alarm and Protection, Scada Systems and Communication Equipment Installation, testing and maintenance.
  • First line C&I and M&E defect resolution, i.e. response, coordination, repair and management within the Maintenance Management System including where appropriate setting contractors to work and providing supervision during the works.
  • The attainment and upkeep of Safe Systems of Work authorisation, which enables the identification and control of system hazards and allows the sanction and issue of safety documents to self and/or others.

To be successful in this role, we would love you to have;

  • Knowledge and experience of C & I and M & E systems, engineering plant and apparatus relevant to power generation sites, computerised maintenance management and health and safety systems
  • An understanding of the importance and meaning of an effective Safe System of Work; a good understanding of health and safety regulations; the ability and desire to achieve and benefit from in role progression to full SAP.
  • A minimum of HNC level qualification or similar within a related engineering discipline, supported with practical experience, or an extensive background within a maintenance or operational environment.
  • A CITB SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) qualification or equivalent or currently working towards this.
  • A high level of motivation and excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team or on your own initiative and the confidence to challenge inconsistencies in an appropriate and professional manner.

Due to the nature of this role a full and valid driving license is essential. The successful candidate should reside or be willing to relocate with a 30 mile radius of the Power Station.
