The role

At SSE, our ambitions for the clean energy transition are matched by the scale and complexity of the financial strategy required to deliver it. We are progressing one of the most ambitious investment programmes in UK infrastructure, supported by a £33bn plan to 2030 and a significant and evolving funding strategy.

As Head of Treasury Finance, you will play a central role in enabling this agenda, leading the financial foundations of Treasury and working closely with senior stakeholders to ensure robust planning, strong control and high‑quality insight that informs key funding, liquidity and risk decisions.

You will

  • Be a core member of SSE’s Treasury Leadership Team, working closely with the Group Treasurer and senior stakeholders across Finance, Investor Relations and the wider business.
  • Lead end‑to‑end Treasury financial planning, control and reporting, including budgeting, forecasting and long‑term interest and net debt modelling.
  • Ensure strong financial governance and high‑quality reporting across debt, derivatives, liquidity and cashflow, with outputs that are accurate, compliant and audit‑ready.
  • Lead technical accounting and hedge accounting, maintaining robust controls and ensuring compliance with IFRS across a complex portfolio.
  • Provide forward‑looking financial insight to support funding, capital structure and risk management decisions, while building capability and driving continuous improvement across the function.

You have

  • A relevant professional financial qualification (for example ICAS, ICAEW, ACA or CIMA), with a treasury qualification beneficial.
  • Experience operating within a large, complex organisation, with a track record of leading financial planning, reporting and control at scale.
  • Strong technical accounting expertise, including working knowledge of hedge accounting and financial governance frameworks.
  • Well-developed analytical and financial modelling capability, with the ability to evaluate risk and opportunity and translate this into clear, practical insight.
  • A collaborative and credible leadership style, with the ability to build strong relationships, influence senior stakeholders and lead teams through change.
