Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for financial insight and business performance? We’re looking for a dynamic and commercially astute FP&A Manager to join our team and help shape the financial future of our SSE Thermal business.

About the role
As FP&A Manager responsible for Capital Investment and Joint Ventures, you’ll lead a small team of FP&A Accountants and play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality financial planning, analysis, and reporting. You’ll work closely with the Head of FP&A and Business Partners to provide strategic insight, challenge assumptions, and support decision-making across the SSE Thermal business.
You will
Lead the delivery of monthly management reporting, forecasts, budgets, and long-term plans (5–10 years) for Capital Expenditure and Joint Ventures.
Provide financial insight and challenge to senior stakeholders, including Operational Directors and drive performance improvement through robust analysis, variance reviews, and scenario planning.
Support strategic business planning and facilitating workshops with internal and external stakeholders.
Ensure the integrity of financial models and control environments.
Contribute to key projects such as acquisitions, disposals, and cost-saving initiatives.
We’re looking for someone who combines technical excellence with strong leadership and communication skills. You’ll need to be:
A fully qualified accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with 5+ years post-qualification experience in a business-facing finance role.
Skilled in interpreting complex data and translating it into actionable insight with proficiency in Excel and financial systems (Oracle experience desirable).
Confident in engaging with senior stakeholders and influencing strategic decisions.
Experienced in managing multiple priorities and leading high-performing teams.
Commercially aware, with a strong understanding of energy market-facing assets.
