About the Role

Base Location: Dublin or Belfast. However, if willing to travel regularly you can be based in one of our key Ireland or UK sites

Salary: €88,600 - €132,800 + car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The Financial Controller reports directly into the Head of Finance for the SSE Airtricity Energy Customer Solutions business. This role leads a team of around 11 finance professionals, maintaining an effective governance and control environment, as well as high quality statutory and financial reporting for the division.

You will be expected to manage the day-to-day finance operations of the Airtricity business ensuring that we deliver accurate, reliable, and valuable information to a range of stakeholders, focusing on establishing best practice in reporting and processes.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Supporting & developing the team to achieve their potential, alongside building & maintaining a strong working relationship with the audit team.

- Delivering an accurate & on-time month end close process, fully supported by relevant data with appropriate documentation of judgement areas.

- Providing meaningful reporting to the business on the monthly financial performance, including variance analysis compared to budget & forecast. The reporting should provide a driver-based view of performance and highlight any risk/opportunities for future periods. You will be expected to work collaboratively with the finance business partnering team in this regard.

- Responsibility for delivering the half year and year end statutory process, including technical accounting papers and subsidiary audits.

- Maintaining a strong internal control environment surrounding the financial accounting & reporting processes. This will include appropriate and timely reviews of balance sheet reconciliations & maintenance of the company's Risk & Controls Matrix.

- Driving and supporting system & process improvement projects within the team and across the business. These projects are designed to deliver Excellence in Financial Control – managing the team through the change is an important aspect of the role.

What do I need?

- A minimum 5 years post qualified experience in a similar role with strong technical knowledge of IFRS. Experience in the Energy Sector would be a distinct advantage.

- Experience of leading a large, diverse team of finance professionals.

- A strong background in management of a general accounting environment and experience of delivering a continuous improvement agenda into the financial control environment.

- Strong knowledge of core financial systems and general accounting procedures.

In addition to the above you will be a good communicator, professional and diligent, with the ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure, whilst never compromising on the quality of your work. You will be flexible, adept at managing expectations and be able to adapt to changing business needs.
