About the Role

Base Location: Perth or Glasgow | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. 

Salary: £55,200 - £83,000 + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances, and wellbeing.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available.

The Energy Codes and Reform Manager will lead a small team of three who are responsible for the day-to-day management of electricity codes in addition to supporting both the development and implementation of industry reforms (e.g. connections and code reform). The role will also seek to use knowledge of the energy code landscape and develop a whole energy system view to deliver against business objectives including the move to more strategic network planning.

Travel would vary but would likely include monthly travel to other offices (Glasgow/Perth) and occasional travel to London.

Key accountabilities include:

- Monitoring and reporting on energy code modifications ensuring that senior management are kept up to date on any high-risk modification proposals and that appropriate mitigation measures are put in place.

 - Ongoing development and refinement of internal governance to provide assurance to the wider business when assessing risks, opportunities, and implementation requirements. 

- Provide support across the wider SSEN Transmission business to assess industry challenges, develop creative solutions and utilise codes to enable positive outcomes. 

- Act on behalf of SSEN Transmission to engage constructively with Ofgem's energy code reform agenda.

- Regular engagement with other transmission owners, the system operator, Ofgem, UK Government, developers and relevant stakeholders to make a valued whole system contribution. 

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- A thorough understanding of the GB Networks businesses and energy codes either from a networks, generation, or regulatory perspective.

- Experience in participating in code panel discussions and advocating successfully for changes to the code frameworks.

- The ability to network both internally and externally to facilitate the development of stakeholders and key industry influencers.

- A strong self-starter who can think creatively about solutions to challenging industry problems and back up recommendations with clear evidence with a proven track record of challenging the "status quo".

- Experience of delivering within challenging timescales, with the ability to effectively prioritise, plan and organise, balancing immediate and longer-term business priorities.
