Base Location: For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations – Perth, Glasgow, Aberdeen or Inverness 

Salary: £124,200 - £186,200 + car /car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The Role 

SSEN Transmission is delivering a multi-billion-pound portfolio of major UK infrastructure projects to support low carbon energy, enhance network resilience, and meet Net Zero goals. To ensure successful delivery, we have established a comprehensive Project Services function covering governance and reporting, planning and scheduling, risk management, quality, assurance, resource and project coordination and information management—providing control, insight, and expertise across the project lifecycle. 

As Director of Programme & Project Services you will lead the integrated function responsible for shaping and delivering the strategy, delivery model, and capability that underpin project execution across the Development, Onshore Delivery, and Offshore Delivery directorates, ensuring project services functions are aligned with delivery risk and complexity, enabling the safe, efficient, and assured delivery of SSEN Transmission’s portfolio. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic direction and performance of all Project Services functions, ensuring integrated, high-quality support across programmes. 
  • Establish and embed operational models, standards, tools, and systems that enable safe, efficient, and assured delivery. 
  • Drive functional leadership and integration, leading senior Heads of Function and a dispersed team to deliver expert support across the project lifecycle. 
  • Champion consistency, scalability, and innovation, tailoring services to meet the evolving complexity of SSEN Transmission’s capital portfolio. 
  • Influence cross-functional collaboration, partnering with executive stakeholders and delivery directorates to embed a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. 

You will

  • Have extensive expertise in project services across governance, planning, risk, quality, assurance, and resource management, with a proven ability to design and embed integrated operating models.  
  • Possess advanced portfolio management skills, including data consolidation, KPI governance, and digital enablement through dashboards, analytics, and automation.  
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and strategic influence, operating confidently at executive, board, and regulatory levels to shape delivery outcomes and drive performance. 
  • Have exceptional stakeholder and team management expertise, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams, build trusted relationships, and mobilise resources at scale.  
  • Be resilient, commercially astute, and improvement-focused, with a track record of safeguarding delivery confidence in complex, high-pressure environments.
