Base Location: You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of the following locations : Glasgow, Perth, Inverness and/or Aberdeen

Salary: £101,000 - £151,400 + car /car allowance  + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

The Director of Procurement is accountable for the successful delivery and provide strategic leadership across of all procurement and commercial services in relation to a programme of small, medium and high value projects within SSEN Transmission onshore licenced area.  Procurement and Commercial services are required through all phases of the project lifecycle - Development, Refinement and Execution phases. 

You will

  • Build collaborative procurement and commercial strategies that support the successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of transmission and customer connection projects, balancing commercial value, sustainability, stakeholder needs and long-term business objectives.
  • Partner with project teams and stakeholders to provide Procurement & Commercial leadership throughout the project lifecycle, contributing to business cases, project plans, governance processes and regulatory submissions to enable informed decision-making and successful outcomes.
  • Foster strong supplier and stakeholder relationships by working closely with internal teams, industry partners, regulatory bodies and key suppliers to strengthen supply chain resilience, encourage innovation and create shared value.
  • Provide commercial stewardship and risk management across contracts and projects, ensuring effective forecasting, performance management, governance and compliance while supporting safe, efficient and cost-effective project delivery.
  • Champion a culture of safety, continuous improvement and inclusivity, embedding health, safety and wellbeing into all activities, sharing best practice, enhancing processes and helping teams achieve high-quality outcomes through collaboration and innovation.

You have

  • A proven track record of providing strategic leadership across major capital infrastructure, transmission, energy or utility programmes, with accountability for significant project portfolios and investment outcomes.
  • Extensive experience leading procurement, commercial and supply chain functions on large, complex engineering and construction projects, delivering value while balancing safety, risk, quality and programme objectives.
  • Deep understanding of regulated utility environments, including price control frameworks, business planning cycles and regulatory engagement, ideally within the energy sector.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with demonstrable experience shaping procurement strategies, negotiating complex contractual arrangements, managing high-value claims and driving commercial performance at portfolio level.
  • Exceptional stakeholder leadership skills, with the ability to influence executive teams, regulators, delivery partners and supply chain organisations to achieve shared objectives.
  • Significant experience establishing governance, assurance and project control frameworks that support successful delivery of large-scale capital programmes and informed investment decision-making.
  • Expert knowledge of industry-standard contract forms, including NEC, FIDIC and LOGIC, combined with the ability to lead high-performing teams and foster collaborative, long-term supplier partnerships.
