Base Location: For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations Aberdeen or Perth. you'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in the office or across the BBNP route.

Salary: £36,200 - £54,400 + car/allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

The role

We have a strong opportunity for an Assistant Project Manager to join the Beauly to Blackhillock to New Deer to Peterhead (BBNP) programme within Onshore Capital Delivery. This role will support delivery of one of SSEN Transmission’s major onshore reinforcement programmes, working on pre-construction and construction interfaces to help deliver new 400kV overhead line and associated infrastructure across the north and north east of Scotland.

You will

  • Support the Project Manager and wider delivery team in managing multi-disciplinary work across the BBNP programme, including overhead line, access, forestry, ground investigation, consents, land and construction readiness activities.
  • Help plan, coordinate and monitor project activities, making sure actions, programme milestones, contractor deliverables and internal dependencies are visible, tracked and progressed in line with agreed timescales.
  • Work closely with delivery partners, contractors and internal teams to support safe, practical and efficient delivery on site, including regular engagement on access constraints, environmental commitments, landowner requirements and construction sequencing.
  • Support the management of allocated work packages, including cost tracking, change control, risk management and preparation of reporting information for governance and project reviews.
  • Contribute to tender, procurement and contract administration activities, including preparation of scope information, review of contractor submissions, NEC3 correspondence, programme updates and commercial inputs.
  • Promote a positive safety culture across the programme by supporting safe systems of work, reviewing project documentation, learning from site observations and helping project teams work in line with SSE’s safety expectations.

You have

  • Experience working in a project, construction, infrastructure or engineering environment, ideally on complex programmes with several workstreams and delivery partners.
  • A working knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements, including CDM Regulations, construction phase planning and the importance of safe site delivery.
  • An understanding of NEC3 contract administration, project controls, change management and programme tools such as Primavera P6, or a clear willingness to build capability in these areas.
  • Strong organisation and communication skills, with the ability to track actions, coordinate inputs, follow up with stakeholders and keep project information clear and current.
  • A practical, collaborative approach, with confidence working across contractors, land, consents, engineering, commercial, environmental and construction teams to resolve issues and keep delivery moving.

A full, current driving licence, with the ability to travel and attend site regularly.
