Base Location: You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of the following locations Reading, Perth or Cardiff.

Salary: £35,200 - £52,800 performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

To embed data Governance organisation practices in Business Energy (BE) and support the Energy Customer Solutions (ECS) data strategy. Reporting directly to the Data Governance and Assurance Manager, this role collaborates closely with the Data Quality Manager and cross-functional teams in Data, Analytics, and IT. The primary focus is to grow data value by upholding rigorous data quality standards and leads the assessment of the BE/ECS data strategy, identifying areas of strength, critical gaps and priority opportunities for strategic improvement.  

 This will be accomplished by driving the standardisation of information assets, establishing robust governance frameworks that encourage transparency and supporting metadata management, analytics, and data science initiatives. Close collaboration with peers across the wider SSE group is essential to ensure a safe, efficient, and effective work environment, as well as to maintain the technical infrastructure necessary for managing information resources. Builds strong, trusted relationships with senior leaders and influences decision-making to ensure data governance principles are consistency upheld.  

You will

  • Drive awareness and collaboration in the maintenance and controlled use of information under direction of the Data Governance Manager.
  • Educates stakeholders at all levels on the critical role of information management in driving business success and value creation.
  • Promotes the value and business impact of reporting and analytics as enablers of measurable outcomes and informed decision‑making.
  • Establishing a reporting framework aimed at monitoring progress and identifying improvement opportunities against data principles, quality, integrity, accessibility, classification, security and ease of use.
  • Provides strategic recommendations on compliance, prioritisation and focus across all customer data domains

You have

  • Understand data-driven challenges and opportunities within in the Energy sector. 
  • Skilled at influencing decisions and driving change across management levels. 
  • Prioritising projects according to business value i.e. cost v benefits.   
  • Communicate complex analytics clearly to all stakeholder levels. 
  • Ability to recognise when data fails to meet these standards and what corrective measures apply.
