The role
As a Credit Risk Team Manager, you will lead a team responsible for assessing and managing credit risk to protect the organisation and support sustainable growth. You will balance strong risk oversight with a fair, customer-focused approach, ensuring decisions are consistent, transparent and commercially sound.
You will
Lead and develop a high-performing team – set clear objectives, provide regular coaching and feedback, and create an inclusive environment where everyone can contribute and grow.
Oversee credit risk assessments and decisions – ensure applications and customer accounts are reviewed fairly, consistently and in line with agreed risk appetite and policy.
Monitor portfolio performance – track trends, identify emerging risks and take timely action to reduce potential losses.
Improve processes and controls – look for opportunities to simplify ways of working, strengthen controls and enhance the customer experience.
Collaborate with key stakeholders – work closely with colleagues in finance, operations and customer teams to ensure risk decisions support both customer outcomes and business goals.
You have
Strong experience in credit risk or financial risk management, with a solid understanding of credit assessment and portfolio monitoring.
Proven leadership skills, including the ability to motivate, coach and develop a diverse team.
Sound judgement and decision-making ability, balancing risk, commercial priorities and customer fairness.
Analytical skills, with confidence interpreting data, identifying trends and making evidence-based recommendations.
A collaborative and inclusive approach, valuing different perspectives and encouraging open discussion to drive better outcomes.
